Reorganize and remake a resource on GoOpen CT to create something new! With remixing, you can adapt the content to learners’ needs, localize content to make the material more accessible, and/or add revised data to keep your resource current and up to date while preserving the original. When remxing, you are creating a new copy of the resource (not changing the original resource).

When you remix content, the author of the original resource will be notified when your remixed version is published. This can be a great way to connect with other educators and build your open community.

Note: Remixing is limited to resources that are created with our Open Author tool. You can't remix content that is hosted on another site and created with the Submit from Web tool.

Reasons to remix

Why you may want to remix a resource

  • Localize examples to add regional relevance for your students

  • Adapt content for another grade level or adapt to match alternate learning styles

  • Update references to keep pace with new research and scientific discoveries

Stages to remixing a resource

There are three stages to remixing a resource: Edit, Describe, and Submit.

Edit your remix

  1. Enter a new title for your remix. Think about how your title will be different from the original resource's title in search results.

  2. Select View and Manage Authors from the top left of the screen to add a co-author if you are working with another person.
  3. Select each section head to open the content so you can review and edit as desired.

  4. Change the resource image if desired. Remember that the image appears in search results so a new image might be desirable.

  5. Modify the headings and subheadings in the Table of Contents if you make any additions or deletions.

  6. Insert links from external sources by typing the text you would like displayed and paste in the link.

  7. Insert media such as videos, images, audio, and PDFs to make your remixed resource interactive. Upload an item from your computer or paste in a link from the web.

  8. If desired, upload a Google Doc from your Google Drive or upload a Word doc from OneDrive. NOTE: to import from Google Docs or OneDrive without overwriting your remix material, select Add New Unit first, and then import to the new unit.

  9. When you have finished editing your remix, you are ready for the Describe and Submit steps. Select Next at the top right of the page and go to Describe and submit your remixed resource
